9 months

We celebrated Lainey's 9 months on friday. I really can not believe she is already 9 months already. We really do enjoy watching her grow and develop and learn. She loves to stand all the time now and to climb all over us if we are anywhere near her. For the first time today I found her sitting up in her crib, I have never seen her go from laying on her back to sitting up. She loves any food we give her and still loves late night snuggles. She is an amazing little person and I feel truly blessed to have her in my life, even at 2am, 3am, 4am......
I am going to the playgroup at the nurses office tomorrow so I will be able to check her stats out. I know she is healthy and that is all that matters, we just want to see if we should be getting the next size car-seat.
I have made some blocks for a friend's little girl and I thought I would see what Lainey thinks of them, a few of them are for her. She really likes them, I think I am going to make a couple a little smaller for her too.

On friday I took Lainey to the park, no one was there! I guess here in Vancouver they thought it was cold, I thought it was a beautiful day:) She tried the swing. She has been on it before with me but never by herself. She was more interested in looking around then the actual motion of the swing. We will go back and hopefully there will be other little ones there for her to play with.
Check out her scarf! I wish I had a cool scarf like that!
I just love this shot of her and Trevor! And yup, Lainey's mouth is full of food.
 Family photo for 9 months!
Beautiful hate grandma bought for Lainey!
My goal is to slow down and really enjoy each moment more, the dishes will still be there, the laundry will get done eventually but in the meantime I am going to play with my little girl and watch her grow. Happy 9 months Lainey you are adorable and we love you!

Winner!

About a year ago I went to Babies to Bellies when I was pregnant with little Lainey. A couple of weeks later I got a little something in the mail. It was a gift card to Fruit Kids, a clothing store for babies and children. I have looked at the website and I didn't love anything at first but then recently I found this jacket and thought it would be good for Lainey for the spring. I used my gift certificate and only had to pay $18. The picture does not do it justice, it a beautiful jacket, can't wait for spring:)
Look at the inside....beautiful!
Haha Lainey makes the funniest faces! Also grandma made this sweater and she just had it stored in a closet because she didn't like it but it looks awesome on Lainey.
 Look at that lip!
 Ummm...no comment!
 Ahhh my sweet girl.
Also I made this quilt for my sister's little one. I wanted to make a special quilt when she was born but I didn't have time so I gave her one I had. This one was made special for her and matches her mobile that I made for her. It measures 36"x36", I am going to make similar ones for the Preemies.
 This is the back.
Oh and check out the little snail scooting around.
Look who likes to stand all by herself. She can pull herself up and then just hangs out.

Our little girl is going to be 9 months on friday, and although I am so happy that she is growing and is so healthy and happy, I just feel like it is going by to fast. Oh and new this week she can WAVE!!! I can't believe it but when people wave at her she waves back, so cute!

The Basic Charity Challenge.

I read a blog tonight and became very inspired. I often think about those in need but not very often do I do anything about it. Tonight after reading on Cara's blog about the basic Charity Challenge, I did something. I emailed a local guild and offered to donate a couple of quilts to there Preemie Quilt Program. They donate  hundreds of quilts to the preemies born at the woman and children's hospital. This is were Lainey was born and we were very lucky that she was healthy and got to come home after just a week. Other's are not as lucky. We had a very positive experience at this hospital, the nurses and doctors were all amazing but sometimes you need a little more. I hope that the quilts I make bring a baby warmth.
I am posting this in hope that you go over to Cara's blog and get inspired too!
Have a great weekend:)

 Peek-A-Boo Dad!

Trevor giving Lainey some Valentines's Day flowers, I think she likes them:)

Love this photo of her, she is just so happy!
On the move, I love watching her learn how to move and get something.
 Lainey doing push ups, hahaha
These are some over the head bibs for a friends little guy. I have never made them like this, but I really like how they turned out.

xoxo

Happy Valentines day everyone! For Lainey's first Valentine's day we made a couple of special people foot print Valentine's! Then we made Trevor some pj's! They are pretty funny and I don't know if he will ever wear them but it was fun to make them. I originally bought the material right after Lainey was born. I was so in love with her and wanted to get my hands on anything with hearts and that said love. After having a baby it is an indescribable love you feel and it make you do crazy things. Anyways I showed it to my sister Melis and she pointed out that it said soulmates, how sad for Lainey if she had to grow up thinking I was her soulmate, lol. Anyways who else could I use it for other than Trevor, right? And I had to make something that he might wear in private. It was a learning experience as I did not use a pattern.
There was a beautiful sunset the other night! We caught it just in time as it only lasted a few minutes.

Tonight Trevor and I are having our take in from our favourite indian restaurant and Lainey and I are going to make chocolate covered strawberries. mmm
Hope everyone gets to spend the day with people they love!

So proud!

I am extremely proud of myself!!! I took my old shirt and made a dress for Lainey!!! I used a turtorial from Owly Baby called Good Day Dress. I changed a few things, like how they did the neck line and arms. I am just tickled with the outcome. I made it so it would fit her in the summer, can't wait to try it on her!
I plan to make 5 dresses for Lainey for the summer, 4 to go! What a great way to purge my closet.

A Quilt for a couple of dogs

To start with we are all finally better!!! Trev and I were saying that we have not been that sick in years, probably at least a decade (wow we are old;)) It is so nice to have our happy little girl back, oh how we missed those smiles. Second off, I would really like one day to be able to choose one photo of Lainey to put up. Trust me I do narrow it down, but I guess I just think she is just so sweet that I love every picture. And last off Melissa asked me to make a dog quilt for Bosco and Annabelle. What lucky dogs eh? So here it is, Lainey is showing you the back side in this photo.

Hey Melis, remember that photo I took of Colin at this same age? Super cute, love the angle.
hehehe look at her drool....no teeth yet, we are in no rush but I am sure they will be cute when they to come.
Also Lainey can move. I would not call it crawling, it is hard to describe but I will try. She does it from a sitting position and she leans forward onto her hands and pulls a little and then sits back up. It takes her a long time to get anywhere but she is learning. She really likes when I put her on all fours and help her crawl. She can also get around by wiggling backwards and in circles.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Fabric Overload

So I am really trying not to buy as much fabric, I have more than I could use in the next 5 years. But new lines come out, sales happen and I cave. I have to say I have only had one slip up in the new year and to be honest I totally forgot I told myself I was not buying anymore. Not that that is an excuse but it is what happened. So I bought some fabric at the end of December and usually I go to the post before Trevor comes home and then put the material away. It's not like I am not allowed to buy so much material but I do buy a lot and instead of hearing the "speech" I just put it away. This time I went out of town and it all came in ONE day. Eeek! Good thing Trevor was missing me and thought it was pretty funny.

I already have a fat quarter bundle of this collection, Shade Garden. I am making a quilt for my niece and have a great idea already.
This fat quarter bundle of 12 days of Christmas is for a tree skirt. I made a christmas throw out of this line and just love it.
And of course Little Folks by Anna Maria Horner. I have some of this line already in both the flannel and the voile, whch feels like silk. I am going to make Lainey some summer dresses out of this.
And some charm packs. I really want to make some more patchwork quilts. I thought I could make a large quilt with just 3 charm packs but after making my christmas one I realized I need a lot more. So I bought 3 more fandango and....
 4 more dream on!!!
I have a few projects in the works, as soon as we are not all sick and I stop going to bed at 8pm I will get sewing!
